Raid Report: NK, Realm First! Grand Crusader
Submitted by EpikPhailure on Sun, 01/17/2010 - 12:42pm
NK of Aman’Thul, has done a Realm First, on January 15th, while most of the people in America were sleeping, this guild participated in the realm first conquest of the Trial of the Grand Crusader with 50 attempts remaining in 25-player mode.
Epik: What do you say helped the most, to get this done, on the first attempt?
NK has been around since mid-2007, and is looking for more good players to join the raid team, they are really interested in a Holy Paladin. You can see their recruitment thread here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?sid=1&topicId=20133928696&ST=US-379079-EcaSqjdkQje1twH3fI5mAMTelWmXVxsfrxs

NK is a mature, casual, progression raiding guild, for alliance players on the Oceanic Realm of Aman’Thul. I caught up with the Raid Leader and Main Officer: Savittri shortly after their realm first and we discussed NK’s realm first and he took the time to answer some questions.
Epik: What do you say helped the most, to get this done, on the first attempt?
Savittri: This achievement is more of a concerted guild effort over a long period of time. It is hard to isolate one factor which helped the most to complete it without wipes, or first time. Everyone performed well, and that is the only way you can beat this. I think team work is a huge factor in WoW, and often overlooked. In this case, you have to perfect how you do the instance, so you have to work as a team, and keep the team stable to make sure each week is as smooth or smoother than the last. In that sense, there was no single factor that helped the most, but rather this was the peak of several months of working together as a team and it finally 'clicking'.
Epik: How many times has NK beat TOGC 25man, how long have they been trying to do it on the first try?
Savittir: Well, the Realm First! Grand Crusader achievement is actually an achievement that you're trying to do from day one of entering the Trial of the Grand Crusader 25 Player (TOGC25) instance. The achievement is a reward for defeating TOGC25 without any wipes, so I can only say that we have been trying for this since our first kill of the last boss (Anub'Arak) which was on 23rd of November, this was the server first Anub'Arak 25 "Hardmode" kill. Since then we have had 6 subsequent kills, the latest being the completed achievement, however we haven't been anywhere near clearing without wipes until the last 3 weeks of attempts. The last 3 weeks we reached Anub'Arak with 50 attempts left (no wipes), so I guess you can say we have been trying for 3 weeks.
Epik: Is there any advice you would like to give to other guilds that are trying for this achievement?
Savittir: My advice is that you need to remain positive, and always look for positives in your wipes. Many raid leaders get dragged into being negative and critical, which can be useful at times, however being positive and keeping the morale of your raiders up is ultimately better in the long term. Anub'Arak 25 (Heroic) is a fight that can be very demoralising, and people will make mistakes. Be positive and try to improve as a group going forward on each attempt.
