Jewelcrafting Gold Making Part 1

Right now epic gems are the only thing that could make you a lot of money. Rare gems are too inexpensive because of the cheap supply of Saronite Ore. Plus, people discriminate other players using rare gems. Epic gems are in, rare gems are out. You jewelcrafters have to start saving up tokens to buy epic gem recipes. To give you an idea of what to buy, see the post Jewelcrafting Gem Guide.

Before we get started, you need to get the essential addons. We will only be using Auctionator and Auctions Profit Master. That’s really all you need.

Jewelcrafting Gold Guide

I hope you have at least some epic gem recipes with you. Or else, this will be a bit useless. Anyway, talk the auctioneer guy. Click the Auctions tab below and you will be able to see a “Summary” button at the top. Click that button! A Quick Auctions window will pop up. Select the “Gems” button on the left and click on “Get Data”. This will scan the whole auction house to check how much of which gems are posted and display the lowest price listed. After a minute or so, you will have almost the same screen as the picture above. If the gem name has an X on its left, it means you don’t have the recipe yet. Click on the name of the gem and it will have a number on its left. This will put that gem cut in the “to-craft” list. Keep on clicking until you are satisfied with how much of that gem you want to cut. Right-clicking on it will decrease the number.

Jewelcrafting Gold Guide

Once you’ve clicked all the gems you want to cut, open up your Jewelcrafting. You will notice a “APM” button at the top right. Click on that and it will bring up a list on the right. The items that will be displayed are the gem cuts you clicked on earlier. Clicking on the game name will automatically cut it. Just make sure you have all the materials required.

Where Do I Get More Raw Epic Gems?

If you’d like to craft and sell more epic gems but don’t have all the materials required, let’s see where you can get more raw epic gems.

1. Honor Points

If you’re the type of player who likes to do battlegrounds just for fun, most probably you have some unused honor points. You can use these to buy extra gems. For the Horde, you can find Lady Palanseer in Orgrimmar along with the other NPCs who sell PvP gear for Honor Points. For the Alliance, you can find Captain O’Neal in Stormwind City. With the recent changes with Honor Points, it doesn’t take a long time to get 10,000 honor points. You had fun and at the same time, you can use the points to boost your profit.

Here’s a screenshot of an Isle of Conquest win. This was played with the random battleground daily bonus (the first random bg you do for the day). A nine minute win gave me 5k honor. Probably you’ll get around 3-4k if you’ve already did your first random bg. If you play battlegrounds and use the random battleground option or the call to arms, you’ll get extra honor points and it won’t take long until you can get an epic gem. If you’re really lucky, you can get enough honor points to buy a raw epic gem in 30 minutes.

2. Emblems

If you’re the type of player who loves to do dungeons all the time, you will have a lot of emblems you do not know how to dispose of. Here’s your chance!

First you need to convert all your emblems until they become “Emblems of Heroism”. The dudes selling emblem gears will all have the option of trading your current emblem for a lower kind of emblem. The hierarchy goes like this: Frost>Triumph>Conquest>Valor>Heroism. For example, you have triumph emblems, you have to trade them in for conquest, and in turn trade that for valor, and in turn trade that for heroism. It’s a big hassle, actually. Plus, these guys know that you will profit more from Cardinal Ruby, King’s Amber and Majestic Zircon that they require 20 Emblems of Heroism instead of 10. Magistrix Lambriesse (Horde) and Arcanist Ivrenne (Alliance) can both be found in Dalaran along with the other emblem quartermasters.

3. Auction house

This is the tricky part because you need to be familiar with your server’s pricing. What happens is you find cheap raw epic gems, cut it and then sell it for more.

In this screenshot, you can see Auctionator and Auctions Profit Master side by side. Use Auctionator to make a shopping list of the raw epic gems. The shopping list is to save time because the next time you want to search for, let’s say, a cardinal ruby, you will just have to click the name in the shopping list. No more typing. In this example, I searched for Majestic Zircon. The raw gem costs 89.7g in the auction house.

According to Auctions Profit Master, there’s a cut where the lowest price is 109g. Minus the 12 hour deposit for the gem, I can profit around 18 gold per epic gem. Always check for cheap epic raw gems in the auction house. It won’t hurt if you also shout out in the trade channel that you are buying raw epic gems. If you can find a constant seller for your epic gems, that’s also great. I still got most of my gems in the auction house. Just make sure to check it every now and then as cheap gems get bought out right away.

Now that you already know where to get your raw epic gems and to make which cuts so you can profit a lot, the next part of this guide is how to set up Auctions Profit Master so you can automatically post your gems in the auction house in just one button.
