Preparing for 4.2
While I’m sure that most of you have cleared the new heroics by now and maybe could use just a few pointers on the topic, what we should really be thinking about at this point in time is the upcoming 4.2 content patch that should be dropping sometime this month.
While there aren’t all that many videos out on bosses as of yet, those strategies will come clear in time so don’t worry overmuch about them for now. A new addition with the 4.2 patch is the encounter journal that will make it easier to figure out what the bosses do without help from out of game sources. This will help to prepare you for the bosses that you’re about to face even if it is your first time ina dungeon so it might be helpful for you to take a bit of time at the start of a new dungeon to familiarize yourself with the upcoming bosses.
A new content patch like this one is a good time to make good impressions on people from your realm, especially from other guilds. While you might be happy with the guild that you call home right now, burnout and life are common factors in the death of a raiding team and it would be easier to find a new home if you were remembered by people around your server as the only tank who could get so and so boss down in one try.
The new function of the looking for group tool that does what it can to match you up with people from your server first is very helpful when it comes to making contacts among the people of your server so when the Firelands are first launched, it might be a good idea to get yourself out there and to run those random dungeons.
Finally, there are a few things that you should do before the patch is launched to prepare yourself for the patch. Make sure that your stock of consumables and raw materials are stocked up. This means to not only stock up on enchanting materials and herbs, but also crafting materials. There are a lot of new epic crafting patterns that will give you that boost to an item slot that you might be unlucky with so be sure to take advantage of those ways to stopgap your weaker gear slots.
Finally, if you’re anything like me, you have a giant load of Valor points stocked up from this tier of raiding. When the patch hits the live servers, all of your current Valor points will be automatically converted to Justice points instead so it doesn’t do you any good to save up on them.
The best ways that there are to burn off these points is to wait until the patch and buy a bunch of Heirloom items for your future alts, or you can use them now to buy the epic boots which are BoE and sell them for a boost to your gold before the patch.
Make sure to be prepared and you’ll be able to keep ahead of the curve.
