So long, and thanks for all the fish...

So long, and thanks for all the fish…

If you’re a fan of Douglas Adams, you will get that quote. It is the title of a book in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series. It is also what the Dolphins said to the humans on earth, before they left earth due to the incoming and impending destruction of the planet.

How to get into a Random Group faster with a DPS

Tanks are the most demanded role for dungeons. Healers are often a close second, but what about DPS? DPS are the most played role in the game, so the wait time for the new looking for group can be much, much longer if you only check the DPS role in LFG finder. However I have discovered a small cheat to get you in a group faster.

Group with a tank (and/or heals) before you enter the queue, of course the tank and heals will have to queue with you. As soon as your group is ready, have the tank (and healer if they are along) not accept the run, if they don’t want to go with you. Your group will fail to form, but you will be put at the front of the list for the next run.

I tested this out the other day with my hunter as DPS.

Interview with a hacker

Account security is an important detail to pay attention to, just ask the numerous people who have had their World of Warcraft accounts hacked, accessed, and taken advantage of. Even I had my account hacked once. I still do not know how it happened, I never go to websites that I am unsure about, and I have a solid anti-virus program. I have never entered my account details on a website other than worldofwarcraft.com. Yet one day it happened, August 10th, 2009. I woke up that morning with an email from Blizzard saying that my account had been compromised and was locked until I could email them and verify that I had secured my account. I went through a gauntlet of emotions from anger to feeling violated. It took three days to get my account back, and I feared the worst, my characters would be deleted, everything gone… I was actually lucky.

Should I carry your bags too?

A common trend seen lately in the game is the total lack of ambition from some of the players.

It could be from people that are tired of running the same content over and over for each new character they create, or it could just be the fast, easy, lazy way.

Either way, what I am talking about has been around for some time, and that is: Paying people to run you through the same dungeon over and over to power level you. Then you move on to the next dungeon for a new set of green or blue gear and some more power leveling.

Another thing you will see is people paying other players to farm certain items for them. Most would say, who cares, if they have the gold, let them spend it. They are right too; this game is great as it allows you to play however your heart leads you. What bugs me is I am a person who likes to earn things myself.

WTS: Battered Hilt

If you have been on trade chat at all since the new patch went live, then I am sure you have seen it more times than you can count. WTS or WTB Battered Hilt.

With the prices of this item going for insane amounts of gold depending on the realm, it is safe to say this is one of the most desired items right now.

If you are wondering what this is, the Battered Hilt starts a quest chain that ends up with a really nice level 251 sword or mace. You can acquire the hilt as a drop in the new ice crown dungeons, but only in heroic setting. When the patch first was released on the live realms the drop rate of this item was actually quite high, I saw it drop a total of 5 times in the first two days.

The new "Looking for Group" and you!

It has been over a week since the 3.3 patch went live on the realms and a lot of you have been using the new Looking For Group features. This radical change has added a fair share of bonuses and drawbacks to PUGs.

Some of the praises that have been heard are less waiting for groups, now that the groups are made up of players across your entire battle group instead of just your realm. This has created a new pool of players to choose from in making groups, however random the system may be at picking players. I have had good luck at getting groups for just about every dungeon I ran. The longest I have had to wait was around ten minutes for an Oculus run that some guild members needed for the achievement.
