Live Tonight!

I’ve been told to tell everyone that Polygamerous is recording a new episode live tonight. So HEY EVERYONE! You’ve been told. I’m gonna show up, and it’ll be my first time. They get to impress me. No pressure guys Laughing

Live Tonight! brought to you by Lady Jess - Life, Love, Games, Hooah

I have added a new plugin to this site called "I Like This". If you click through you'll see it at the end of each post. So now, when you want to comment but don't really know what to say, you can just "Like" it. The way it should work is the posts with the most likes get listed in a sidebar widget. Cool eh?

Looking Back at a Year O’ Pike

I decided to go back through aaaallll my blog posts and see what I did this past year. Here’s what happened, in a nutshell:

January 2009:

The remnants of Pike’s old and exploded guild < Entelechy > coalesced into < Friend Ship > a few months prior and because it’s a tiny baby guild we’re mostly PuG’ing stuff. At this point I was in Naxx25 PuGs with Tawyn, topping the Patchwerk meters in blues with endless Steady Shot spam. Pike misses her shot weaving. She welcomes the impending Beast Master nerfs despite the fact that she never spec’d into BW/Readiness because she found it to be rather inane and cheesy.

The One Where I Fail at Alot

I played more Half Life 2 this weekend. Since, after logging into WoW the day after Christmas (which went fine), my computer now turns itself off during the loading screen. Lovely isn't it?  January 4 needs to hurry up and get here. I'm sorry if that brings everyone back to work, I really am, but that's our w2 date. Grrr it's January 20, read the wrong date. The sooner I file, the sooner I get my return, and get a new computer.

Anyhow, the title. Yes, I failed miserably this weekend.

  • Ran out of ammo for every gun I have
  • got SO lost in Chapter 6 I ended up back at the beginning of the chapter.
  • Tried out Left 4 Dead 2 for the first time, and SHOT my team mates. REPEATEDLY!

Maybe I should go back to bed and start  the weekend all over. Oh, no, wait, that would make New Computer Day further away again.

Christmas Money FTW!

I spent my Christmas money today. My Mother in Law (Thank you!) sent me (and hubby and girls) $50. Money to spend on something we want, that we wouldn’t usually buy ourselves. My Mom did the same thing (thank you too), only I already spent that on video games. Shocking I know. So anyhow, I went to the PX today for dog food. I had decided that this year, my $50 would be spent on a Wallet. It was time for a new one, I’d been using mine for over five years. It was looking ratty and gross.

Now, I’m not a fan of buying high priced stuff normally. Especially purses, to me having "Coach" displayed on your purse is just another word for "Mug Me!". And I know I’m not the only woman to change purses on a fairly frequent basis. But wallets, I’ll use one of them for ages. So I decided to look at Dooney and Bourke. And I found one I just loved. Unfortunately it was twice as much as I had. So I went home.

Messy Christmas

And a hohoho-full new year.
I don't much care for the holiday myself, but it's as good an excuse as any to add some red on the white. (See bottom of this post)

No post last week, and not a very big one today either.
But still, a post.

It's cold outside, and what snow we had here is mostly melting again. Gray slush. Nasty stuff that seems to get everywhere.

I Know That Voice!!

So you may not know this, but my kids and husband will tell you, I remember voices from movies and TV shows like some people remember their own name. Which makes for easy recognition in animated movies. I kid you not, I sit with my back to the TV most of the day. But if Hubby puts a movie on, I can tell him who he’s watching just by hearing the voice of one of the actors.

So, anyhow, I’m happily shooting my way through Half Life 2. I’m all proud of myself for getting to Chapter 5 right? I enter this lab, and the guy talking to me has a voice I know. And I don’t mean I just saw him last week in a movie. I mean I sat here and recalled a show from some 20 odd years ago by hearing the voice of this guy…

Avatar Time Is Here Again (Commissions + Contest)

I have opened up avatar commissions again! I’m sorry it took so long for me to do so. $10 will get you a vintage World of WarCute avatar personalized for a character of your choice, and yes, I am open to most non-WoW stuff also: try me!

The Day After

I’m awake, just me and the dogs.  Yesterday was pretty nice, the kids seemed to like everything they got. What they don’t know is Christmas gets a Mulligan this year. The tree stays up until Hunny gets his R&R, and we’ll have Christmas with him. They currently think it’s just him getting gifts, what they don’t know is they are too.  Stockings, dinner, the whole nine yards.

Yesterday we waited until he got online, only he called instead. So the kids opened their presents while I talked to him, then they each got a turn to talk with Daddy. My youngest immediately made her bed after that, since Santa brought her a full set of Hannah Montana bed stuff. Then they took off for a friends house.

I've decided I'm tired of having two blogs, two twitters, etc. Part of my life IS gaming. And it's time I blogged about my whole life in one place. Sadly I lost a few pots in the process of importing them here but that's ok. I have them stored and can look back whenever I want.

So, no…I'm not abandoning, I'm making it my ONLY blog. For the reasons I mentioned above and a few more. First of all, my name isn't Jess…lol! But 400+ readers know me as the name "Jess" (of my favorite World of Warcraft character), which I named this domain after when this started as a WoW blog. That just gives me another layer of anonymity. That's a good thing.

What can you expect? Well, more posts for those that are already subscribed. Sometimes you'll see two a day even. One related to video games, and another dealing with life in general. Same me though. Just more of me!

The Breench That Stole Christmas

This guy is really starting to get on my nerves!

Just Sayin…

The Breench That Stole Christmas

Happy Festivus!

Congrats! We're all survived another year, even though, sadly, some of the most talented people alive passed away: Patrick Swayze, Walter Cronkite, James Whitmore, D&D inventor Dave Arneson, Bea Arthur, Dom DeLuise, David Carradine, Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Billy Mays, and the greatest entertainer of all time, Michael Jackson. The shockers just kept coming, and each one reminded us that none of this is temporary and life should always be cherished and enjoyed in the moment.

Merry Christmas From BabyPike

Long, long ago, in a galaxy far away, there was a BabyPike.

BabyPike had a computer.

BabyPike was playing on this thing before she could talk. If you opened up her “Baby Book” you could find a spot for “Baby’s Favorite Games”, and instead of “Patty-Cake” or “Peek-a-Boo”, it said things like “Dig-Dug, Donkey Kong, and Pac-Man”.

From Me To You…

Merry Christmas

Wish you all a very merry christmas – with lots of food, family and fun.

Yay Me!

I downloaded Steam the other day. As a part of my effort to broaden my gaming horizons. I think it’s safe to say I’m hooked. If you don’t know what it is, well go look. I’ll still be here when you get back.

The first thing I did was find my blogger friends and stalk them add them to my friends list. Then I started poking around, trying demos, I even bought a game (CSI: Hard Evidence), and another game (Need For Speed: Undercover). NFSU is awesome by the way. You should try it.

Next, I was invited to three groups. Twisted Nether Blogcast, Azeroth Expatriate Gamers, and Polygamerous. Imagine my surprise when I saw…

Double Zombiedrake

Given that I’ve never heard that term outside of my guild, I’m going to assume (probably wrongly) that we invented it (the term, not the accomplishment).  Anyway…

Zombiedrake [zom-bee-dreyk] -noun – A successful run of Heroic KoT: Culling of Stratholme in which the group completes both the Zombiefest and Culling of Time achievements.

We did this the other day, not once, but twice.  If you haven’t tried this before, it’s a good challenge for a dungeon that I’m sure we’ve all seen enough of.  To really understand the challenge, you have to realize that doing Zombiefest will take 5-8 additional minutes of timer for the Culling of Time…

Regarding the Call Stabled Pet Bug

I recently received an e-mail from Xanth over at Out of Range. He informed me that there is apparently a nasty bug going around that is affecting Call Stabled Pet which can make the cooldown 25 days or something fun like that.

Fortunately, he also told me that there is a fix, and sent me this picture to post up here to make sure everyone knows:

The more you know! *shooting star*

In other news, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or whatever it is you celebrate! /nods

Survival tips for fresh 80s tanks

So now you’re a fresh 80, ready to jump into heroic content to get all the things from my shopping list.

First, the good thing: as tank you’ll get groups just about the moment you queue up. We’re still the least played role, even less so than healers, so groups will be all over you.

The bad thing: no one is under as much scrutiny as the tank. There will be times that you join a group and people will start bitching about your health pool, your blue gear, the speed of your pulls.

Here’s Kadomi’s survival tips for fresh tanks using LFD:

Great Quote from a Guildie

***Slightly more mature than my normal posts.  Just slightly, but hey, you’ve been warned.***

The other night, we were in ICC 10 working on Lady Deathwhisperer and having a bit of trouble.  When I decided it was time to rally the troops, I declared that we were going to progress all the way through Icecrown Citidel, becuase I was going to “teabag Arthas before this expansion is over.”  Well, that little motivational tidbit led a good friend to reply:

“If you’re going to teabag the greatest Death Knight of all time, you’ve got to grow a pair first.”

Just thought I’d share.

Its not my fault you die in POS.

I’ve been doing H Pit of Saron on practically a daily basis for the Nevermelting trinket that drops.  I want it.  I keep getting outbid on GDKP runs for Reign, and  no one is running Ony anymore -

I think healing H POS shows my dedication  for  a trinket upgrade. *removes the bitter taste of healing from the back of my mouth.   You should hear my cries of relief when I am allowed to dps.

I don’t hate healing.  Now I have better gear/ more confidence  it does sit a lot better with me,  just all this healing business has been for the express purpose of getting me better dps gear.

I find healing POS difficult – because so much of it depends on people being aware of their own surroundings to reduce the un-necessary damage to themselves  – all the while I chase whatever selection of tank I have managed to get in the dungeon finder ( or a friendly tank) and keep them alive.
